History of Sri Mahalaxmi Temple
Foundation stone of the temple was laid on 10th December 1987 and the idol of the presiding deity, Goddess Mahalakshmi was established on 29th January 1990 on Vasanth panchami day. The holy idol was inaugurated by Swami Shri Manuvarji.
It also houses the idols of Lord Ganesha and Lord Batuk Bhairav outside the sanctum sanctorum. People also worship Lord Shiva in the form of Shivalinga in a separate shrine below a tree located near the main shrine.
A holy site is well maintained by Shri Mahalakshmi Mata Trust which is also involved in several social works including grant of blankets and food materials to the needy. They have been actively involved in several other social and charitable activities.
Entry Fees and Timings of Sri Mahalaxmi Temple
Mahalakshmi temple can be visited anytime between 7 am in the morning till 12 noon or between 5 pm to 9 pm in the evening. There is no entry fee for visiting the temple. Devotees often visit the temple to witness the arti conducted twice a day at 9 am in the morning and 7 pm in the evening.
How to Reach Sri Mahalaxmi Temple
Mahalakshmi Temple is located at the Mahalakshmi ni Pole which lies very near to the Paldi bus stop. Ahmedabad is well connected with other parts of the country through rail, road and air. Kalupur Railway station is located at a distance of around 3 km from the temple.
Ahmedabad’s airport called the Sardar Vallabhai Patel airport lies at a distance of 10 km from the sacred site. Buses operate from Gita Mandir or Paldi bus stop which includes both Government and private operators. Local cabs, taxis or autos can be hired to reach the temple from the airport, bus stop or railway station. You can also book a private cab from top car rental companies in Ahmedabad to reach the temple comfortably.
